Want to Strengthen Your Child’s Confidence? Avoid Saying These Six Things

We all want our children to grow confident and be the best. But sometimes, knowingly or unknowingly, we become the biggest obstacle to our child's progress. Yes, we at Ideal Education Point (New Choudhary Public School) are talking about the things you say or do to your child that only degrades your child's confidence. Here are six of those mistakes that you must avoid with your children.

Things You Should Stop Saying or Doing to Your Child Right Now

If you are doing these six things, your child's confidence is in danger.

Stop Comparing Your Child to Others

Seeing your child confident is essential, but your children don't like to hear comparisons such as, 'Mehta's child got an A+, why do you have an A? "That child got the 100% attendance trophy this year. Why did you not?'

Your child wants appreciation and acknowledgment for the achievements and capabilities from you instead. So never use unfavorable comparisons to motivate your child, as this can make your child feel less capable than others. Instead, we at Ideal Education Point (New Choudhary Public School), the Best Boarding School In Sanganer Jaipur, advise you to highlight the positive achievements of your child.

Never Underestimate Your Child's Intelligence

We don't realize this now, but we constantly underestimate our children's confidence, intelligence, and abilities by using words like stupid, loser, incompetent, etc. Here's the sad truth about it, you are degrading your child's confidence by saying such things. You are the most prominent role model of your child, so influence your child's life positively instead.

Do Not Expect Perfection

Here are some common sentences that we use with our children, 'you are so inept, we are disappointed in you for failing your test,' 'stop crying, boys are tough, get over it,' 'a car is a boy's toy,' 'a doll is a girl's toy.' These things directly attack your child's confidence and even make some children feel insecure.

Keeping high expectations is okay, but very high expectations are a sign that you should stop. So we, as an Agriculture School In Jaipur, don't hold high expectations from our students either. That's why our students are toppers because there is no pressure.

Children will stop trying if something is too much and it is not suitable for your child's confidence. A better way for you is to set long-term expectations and put checkpoints on the path. For example, going to university is a long-term expectation, so you should help your child create short-term goals on the course.

Allow Your Child to Express Emotions

Suppressed emotions are like explosives that can explode into expressions. What we do is push our child to the side when the little one is trying to connect with us. Instead, it would be best to tell your child that it is acceptable to feel sad, happy, vengeful, etc. It will surely boost your child's confidence. Remember that emotion is neither positive nor negative. It's just there. It would help if you taught your child to keep calm, no matter how intense the feeling is.

Don't Express That You Are Doing More Than Your Child Deserves

'We are doing more than you deserve.' If you keep this track on repeat, your child will feel like your love is just a burden and formality. Soon your child will also begin mirroring your actions, and when you try to change that, it will be too late.

Allow Your Child To Make Mistakes

As parents, it is hard for us to watch our children fail or get rejected, and so we never let this happen over time. But it is only stopping your children from bouncing back. Whether your child forgets the English book to the school or gets some grammar questions wrong, mistakes are the most excellent teacher of your children.
